3.1.1 Trajectories in a uniform electric field

Charge values: 0, 100, 200 and 300 units, with different signs. The mass is always the same. Applied field: Ez=10 units. The Coulomb interaction between the charges is neglected compared to the action of the applied field.
 

 

We observe that the trajectories are parabolic, with the acceleration proportional to the charge q and orientation depending on the sign of the charge.

If the charge enters the field moving perpendicular to E, with velocity vo along the x-axis at (x=0,y=0) while the field is directed along the y-axis, the equation for the trajectory is:
